Edmonton International Airport Parking
Edmonton International Airport is found in the Alberta province of Canada, which has British Columbia to the west and Saskatchewan to the east. The airport is to the south of Edmonton city, and is one of the largest in the country, with over six million passengers per annum. It is recognised by its code of YEG. Amongst a vast variety of facilities, Edmonton International Airport parking facilities are available for all its passengers and visitors. There are several parking options from which to choose, some more ideal for short-term parking stays and others that are more affordable for stays of a longer duration.
Edmonton Airport is approximately 26km, or 16 miles south southwest of downtown Edmonton, and is located along the Queen Elizabeth II Highway. Links to this highway from the city are found along Anthony Henday Drive, which is the main road that surrounds the city. Travelling to the airport will take at least half an hour to forty-five minutes, depending on traffic conditions and your starting point, therefore always leave in plenty of time for your departure flight. The main roads of the city can also be busy during rush hour times. Once arriving at the airport, take note of the signs that lead the way to the various airport parking areas, and choose the one that will be most convenient for your purposes. There are valet parking options, a parkade alongside the terminals, a value car park, a jetSet parking area and two areas which are suitable for persons using the industrial or executive aviation services on the Northeast quadrant of the corporate property.
Edmonton International Airport Parking – Easy Parkade
The parkade of the airport is located within a few steps of the terminal buildings, and is therefore ideal for all who prefer to be close by to their airport’s facilities. It is also most convenient for short-term airport stays. The parkade has several levels of parking, and is linked to the terminal building by covered walkways. The entire area is well-lit, and patrolled by security officials. The parking area also offers free plug-ins on levels P3 and P4, and free battery boosts are available. There is a height restriction of 2.35 metres for the parkade.
The first ten minutes of parking at the airport parkade is free of charge, but thereafter, the applicable charges will need to be met. If the self-service machines are used for payments, the first half an hour of parking will be $3.00, and the daily parking rate applicable is $21.00. A week of parking will cost $105.00. The parking rates are slightly higher if the payments are made at the cashier. Within the parkade, there is an Executive Park, ideal for passengers who are late for their flight and who need a quick parking space, or for those who prefer even greater convenience. It is a reserved area for quick access to the terminal. The Executive Park daily rate is $24.00 or $29.00.
Passengers with disabilities could park in the parkade area as well, as reserved spaces are available for their convenience. There are also spacious elevators and ramps for access to the departure level.
Edmonton International Airport Parking – Value Car Park
The Value Park is located further from the terminals, and is therefore served by a free shuttle bus. Services of the area include fully powered and paved parking spaces that are patrolled by security officials. This area is best used for medium to long-term parking stays, and is a much cheaper option than the parkade. A day here will cost just $13.00 or $15.00, depending on the type of payment, and a week of parking will be just $60.00 or $75.00. Vehicles can stay for a month for just $180.00, or $220.00. The Value Park has spaces reserved for disabled drivers, and a special area for diesel trucks, in rows 1 and 14 (the blue and red sections). These spaces provide continuous power and are reserved for diesel trucks only.
Edmonton International Airport Parking – jetSet Parking and Cell Phone Lot
The jetSet airport parking lot is located right next to the terminal, and is a facility provided by the airline company of WestJet. It is even equipped with a full service check-in and bag drop for WestJet passengers. Within this airport car park, there is a Cell Phone Waiting Lot convenient for use by persons who are collecting arriving passengers from the airport. Motorists can wait here for up to forty-five minutes free of charge. Once the passenger arrives and calls the friend or family member waiting, the vehicle can be driven to the terminal to collect the passenger.
Edmonton International Airport Parking – Valet Services and Curb-side Parking
The priority valet parking rates at Edmonton Airport are $30.00 per day, not including GST, and are only based on a twenty-four hour period. Along with valet parking services, there are several vehicle services offered, as well as personal services. Departing passengers may be dropped off in front of their terminal of departure, but vehicles may not be ‘parked’ or left unattended in this area. In the arrivals area, where passengers need to be collected after arriving at the airport, there are a few parking stalls that have meters for payments. It will be $6.00 for the first ten minutes, and $6.00 for each five minutes thereafter. Vehicles may not stay longer than twenty minutes.
The Canadian North parking lot and the QuickPark lot are available for passengers using the Executive Flight Centre of Edmonton Airport. Keep in mind that there are no shuttle services from here to the main terminal building.
Parking payments at Edmonton International Airport can be made at the ‘Pay and Go’ kiosks at doors 5 and 9 on the arrivals level and at doors 27 and 29 on the departure level. There are also kiosks in the north and south parkade elevator lobbies on levels P1 and P3. A credit card can be used at the exit of the parking lots, or parking payments can be made in cash at the cashier booths.
